Music & Gender

 When I listen to music I normally don't think about if men would listen to a song that I like. With music, it all depends on the scenery like if you are with someone or if you are by yourself just listening to music by yourself. Like when I am by myself I like to listen to upbeat music that's catchy and something I can vibe with. But, I have always wondered what kind of music people think that men and women would listen to. Some men and women have different tastes in music but you will always find a song that both men and women will both listen to. 

Males usually listen to Rock, Hip Hop, or Rap which I am not surprised by. Even though I do know, that a few males listen to country music. When I am around males about 70 percent of the time they will listen to those types of music. Most males will listen to different artists like Eminem, Drake, Bruno Mars, and Jay-Z. The rapper Eminem's song Lose Yourself is definitely a go-to for males to play just because it is one of his most popular songs. This song definitely sounds like something that would be played during a sports game during a timeout or something.




The types of genres that females will listen to are Country, Pop, and R&B. I do think that females will choose songs that are more upbeat so you can dance to them when you are at a party. Especially from different artists like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and Bruno Mars. When listening to music by these artists I see females singing the lyrics with their best friends and having the time of their lives. Taylor Swift is definitely one of the biggest pop singers right now with her Eras US Tour just ending in August and all her shows were sold out and being something that everyone was talking about. She is definitely loved by the world of music 




Males and Females both have a couple of artists that they listen to like Bruno Mars and Drake. One of Bruno Mars's most popular songs is When I Was Your Man. This song is definitely something that both males and females can listen to since it is just an upbeat and hype song with catchy lyrics. I think that males and females are just trying to find music that is good to exercise, do homework, or even relax with

    I personally enjoy the song "Lose Yourself" because I used to listen it to a lot when I was a child. I love to read this.

    Hi Ariana! I find your perspective on the different types of music that males and females listen to to be very interesting. Though it can be very obvious to decipher the target audience of certain artists, I guess I had never really thought about the fact that some artists are mostly listened to by only males or females.

    I loved all three songs you chose. I definitely agree with each song and which gender they represent. I agree with how you said that they catchy songs are both because it is just a really recognized song.

     Recently, I have been very interested in Japanese culture and food. I haven't ever thought about their music but I do think it would be good to learn about their different wedding, funerals, and holidays and what kind of music they play during that time. Japan has a very set culture and knows what is right and what is wrong. Like I know not everyone likes a set culture I know some people like a loose culture so you can decide if you want to be like your ancestors or not.     In Japanese weddings, they do the same things that Americans do like, vows and ring exchanges but also get cups of sacred sake and exchange them between the bride, groom, and their families. They call the exchange of sake between the bride and groom ' San San Kudo'.  San means 3 and kudo means nine which means the groom and bride drink it 3 times from 3 different sized sake cups.
