Music & Me

 Hi, My name is Ariana, I am a Freshman here at Converse University, I plan on majoring in Computer Science and I play Women's Volleyball. I have a twin sister named Ariel and we have always been inseparable. I only started playing volleyball when our mom made us start playing a sport in the 6th grade. Ariel was the one who chose it first but when I started playing it with her I fell in love and I am so glad I get to continue my volleyball career here.

So to start off, A song that I currently like is Favorite Song by Toosii. I really just like the song because of the beat. At the beginning of the song it kind of sounds like a lullaby. I normally don't go for his songs but, when I heard this playing on the radio, I just loved everything about the song so I just had to add it to my playlist.



A song that is close to my heart is, If He Did It Before He Will Do It Again by Tye Tribbett. Since I grew up in a Christian household this song just reminds me of me and my family driving to church on Sunday and playing this in the background. It just brings back nostalgia, and he has written most of the songs I would listen to as a child.

A type of music genre that I don't understand is rock or heavy metal because I never understand why people like yelling into a mic for multiple lyrics in a row. I’m confused because if you like yelling why don't you just choose a different type of music and yell with those lyrics. I don't think it's as popular as it used to be but I know someone in this world like that genre of music.

    I love that you chose favorite song by Toosii! I also like that song and the beat of it. I also love If He did it before, he will do it again by Tye Tribbett! He is one of my favorite artists and I also grew up listening to him!

    Hey, Ariana! If He Did It Before He Will Do It Again by Tye Tribbett was definitely a Sunday morning classic in my house. I remember waking up to the smell of breakfast and hearing this song knowing that I would be cleaning up with my family later!

 When I listen to music I normally don't think about if men would listen to a song that I like. With music, it all depends on the scenery like if you are with someone or if you are by yourself just listening to music by yourself. Like when I am by myself I like to listen to upbeat music that's catchy and something I can vibe with. But, I have always wondered what kind of music people think that men and women would listen to. Some men and women have different tastes in music but you will always find a song that both men and women will both listen to.  Males usually listen to Rock, Hip Hop, or Rap which I am not surprised by. Even though I do know, that a few males listen to country music. When I am around males about 70 percent of the time they will listen to those types of music.      Recently, I have been very interested in Japanese culture and food. I haven't ever thought about their music but I do think it would be good to learn about their different wedding, funerals, and holidays and what kind of music they play during that time. Japan has a very set culture and knows what is right and what is wrong. Like I know not everyone likes a set culture I know some people like a loose culture so you can decide if you want to be like your ancestors or not.     In Japanese weddings, they do the same things that Americans do like, vows and ring exchanges but also get cups of sacred sake and exchange them between the bride, groom, and their families. They call the exchange of sake between the bride and groom ' San San Kudo'.  San means 3 and kudo means nine which means the groom and bride drink it 3 times from 3 different sized sake cups.
